If you don’t see your question answered here – get in touch! We will do our best to get back to you with an answer as soon as we can.

  • Can I come and get food without a referral?

No, all clients must be referred by a support service to ensure they are receiving all the assistance they need to get back on their feet.

  • How do I get referred?

If you are experiencing food insecurity there is help available. Talk to your social worker or support service about accessing emergency food relief. Some agencies will provide in-house food relief, whereas others will refer clients to other organisations for assistance. If your support agency is not yet a referral partner of Nourishing Neighbours, enquires can be made on our referral page.

  • Do I need to make an appointment to pickup food?

Yes, our service is strictly by appointment only so clients can be assisted without delay and with appropriate care. We appreciate your punctuality so our volunteers can plan their day and so other clients can attend at their booked time without delay. Weekly appointments can be made in our online client booking system.

  • Do you accept food donations from the community?

Yes! We accept non-perishable items and toiletries that are unopened and within their best before dates. For more information you can read our Donate Items page.

  • Do you accept bulk donations from food suppliers and producers?

Absolutely! We go through a LOT of food every week and welcome bigger donations of non-perishables, frozen, fresh produce as well as toiletry and hygiene items. Please get in touch to see how your organisation can assist.

  • Do you deliver?

No we do not provide delivery, but you are welcome to have family, friends or a neighbour pick up your order. Support workers are also able to pickup on behalf of their clients, or a SHEBA/UBER driver by arrangement.

  • Are your staff paid?

No! We are amazingly 100% volunteer run so all money raised goes directly to purchasing food and other essential supplies. If you would like to volunteer with us you can find out more on our Volunteer page. We can’t wait to hear from you!
